Tell us about your role at Torus Talent? What do you like most about it?
My role at Torus is Technical Recruiter. I connect with a variety of different candidates, primarily engineers working in construction and consulting companies. The thing I like the most about my job is building relationships with candidates. I have an opportunity to make an impact on peoples careers and that can be pretty special.
Tell us about your professional background?
I have been in recruitment for about 5 years now. I started working on industrial skilled trades roles with local manufacturing companies and since joining Torus, I have transitioned into recruiting engineers.
What led you to your current role at Torus Talent?
Freddy (Torus Talent President) was a colleague of mine at my last company. Once I was no longer there, Freddy had reached out to me asking if I would like to work with him in building our own recruiting company.
What do you find most challenging at Torus Talent?
Learning about different industries on how the engineering world operates. There is so much more to learn in the technical world.
What are you still hoping to achieve at Torus Talent?
To continue to grow and learn more about this industry to become a leader in this space.
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
Trust your gut feeling and never take anything at face value. Always ask one more question to get clarity. Everyone wants to go fast but sometime you have to slow down to be able to speed up.
What are 3 career lessons you’ve learned this far?
1. You can’t stress over things that you can’t control.
2. Every day there will be positive things and negative things that will happen, but you need to focus on the positives and not let the negative aspects take control of your life.
3. Find out what you want out of your life and be able to incorporate that into your work. There is always a bigger picture and sometimes it can be tough not to focus on what is right in front of you.
What do you like to do on your days off?
If I am not at work, I am usually playing golf, in the woods, or on a patio somewhere.
